When I established the forums in 2005 it was to offer a more richer web experience and greater functionality than the platform where we started this social adventure in 2003, Yahoo Groups. The forums were once a busy hive of activity and provided locals and visitors with a wealth of information just like the Geocaching Ireland Discussion Group on Facebook today.

It was a time where we didn't have the many social media platforms we have today, and it was a different time in terms of mobility and technology. There was no instant access to information, no Google Maps and a very limited base map on your GPSr. Mobile connectivity for me was a 9600bps Infrared connection from a Nokia to a laptop and in later times to a PDA using WAP.

As we moved into the social media era so did our forums users. Geocaching Ireland moved there too, and we have a thriving community on the Geocaching Ireland Discussion Group on Facebook. As a result, forum activity isn't what it used to be and I have taken the decision to disable new registrations to the forums and to make the forums read only so any information there can still be accessed.

The discussion hasn't ended, it has just moved. Join us on the Facebook Geocaching Ireland Discussion Group .

Its all a total mystery, and the reviewers apparently aren't giving away anything :D Part of me suspects they don't know much either, and that Groundspeak have just told them to publish it. Another part of me suspects that this is kind of a 'meet and greet the reviewers' worldwide as otherwise it would be an administrative nightmare to attend 40+ events simultaneously.

Interesting though that the text to the Liverpool one is slightly different

"Come and meet new Geocachers, find new adventures. Come and have a drink, hang out with us. Prepare yourself for new discoveries, new mysteries, new secrets and revelations. We’ll be here, waiting for you at 6pm on these coordinates, at The Wheatsheaf Inn at Mollington, near Chester. We will be holding a free raffle, to which prizes will be gratefully received. Our event will over when the last person leaves. Come and join us for all this and a lot more in a afternoon full of surprises. Come."

I also have it on good authority that a Local Organizer is involved. Trouble is, I have absolutely no idea at all who that is ;) And its not me, before you ask. Whoever arranged it copy/pasted my co-ordinates from the Meet The Danish event I had at the Red Cow Moran Hotel though :D

I said it months ago and I'll say it again... I smell Lab cache...

And with the 'personal lab cache' thing on Tuesday with all the '<3 Love' branding, I'd say there's a link...

The logs on the London one are interesting. Someone posted needs archiving :s

It wouldn't be a surprise if we knew what it was about now would it. We'll just have to be patient. Only 2wks away now anyway.
I'll be there, probably.

Abbey

P.S. See you there Niall ;)
(that's my guess anyway)

Sorry to disappoint but it's nothing to do with me :)
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head,
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue."

Where do you come up with these Denise...? I am impressed by your endless supply. Or are you master of your own domain ;-)
