Heh there Niall - I'm planning an event that requires people to use a boat/kayak to reach the location. Cachers can use their own boat, borrow one, or hire one from the harbour on the mainland. So my question is: can I include hiring prices/details in the cache listing page because if people choose this option they will need to book/pay any hirings in advance. Or does that conflict with the "no commercial content rule". And if so, what do you suggest?

Elsewhere on the forum, this event has been alluded to and I believe I know where you're referring to. Although the distance to be traversed is, relatively, short, taking charge of a boat involves assuming a lot of reponsibility and risk, especially if you're taking others with you.

Doug.G just from knowing the EO (EP) he had an event on Skellig Michel and just had not to mention any particular operator on the listing for it to be OK.

Following from that, you could put put a note to the effect that people are welcome to discuss their logistics on the forums right here - and I imagine there's no prohibition on discussion of a particular operator, dates, times, costs over here?

A good few people ave their own kayaks (inflatable or otherwise). A few even have their own boats (I can think of three off the top of my head)... so the rest of us will need a charter service, as there's no longer any commercial service to the specific location.

I suggest we find one cacher with a two person kayak who will individually ferry everyone else out there. Problem solved.

Hi Nail.
I have question to The Reviewer ....

I would like to hide few caches based on challenge.
But this time not caches found .... but caches owned (hides)

For example .... " you need 20 hides to be able sign the log"

Is that kind of challenge acceptable ?

I like it!!! That will rule out a few of the regular FTF'ers... and actually give me a chance!

I have a strong feeling that one will be refused as it would encourage people to put out absolute rubbish just to claim a find on the challenge. I think the idea is that challenges must be 'earned', and the whole thing of me putting a 20 cache power trail outside my house on a road just to qualify wouldn't be accepted.

What about owning say ten caches with favorite points, then you would have earned it, but doubt that would accepted.

Challenges have a specific set of detailed guidelines that everyone should read before considering a Challenge placement. Not everyone is aware of them but the link is here: http://support.groundspeak.com//index.p ... age&id=206

The ownership of caches to complete a challenge is covered under Point 7 so your idea won't be publishable.
Challenge geocaches may not require the publication of a new geocache or waymark as a challenge criteria; challenge geocaches must be achievable by those who do not own geocaches or waymarks.

Another good challenge cache idea "Somehow manage to get a cache published that breaks at least 2 geocaching guidelines" :D

Not sure if the reviewers would like that idea Chris, but I know of a cache that was published on mistake in Denmark and then afterwards was turned into a tribute cache to the danish reviewers.

The Jasmer Challenge caches, recently published, have a 'rolling' set of qualifications. If I want to log, say, the Bronze Challenge today, I must have logged finds on caches published for each of the months in 2010, 2011 & 2012.

Assume I have done so. If, in January 2014, I have a logged find on a cache published for each of the months in 2013, can I then claim a second find on the Jasmer Challenge (Bronze), i.e. claim for 2011, 2012 & 2013 ?

I recall a similar discussion some time back about where people believe it legitimate to have more than one logged find on the same cache. Would this situation fall within that discussion ?
