When I established the forums in 2005 it was to offer a more richer web experience and greater functionality than the platform where we started this social adventure in 2003, Yahoo Groups. The forums were once a busy hive of activity and provided locals and visitors with a wealth of information just like the Geocaching Ireland Discussion Group on Facebook today.

It was a time where we didn't have the many social media platforms we have today, and it was a different time in terms of mobility and technology. There was no instant access to information, no Google Maps and a very limited base map on your GPSr. Mobile connectivity for me was a 9600bps Infrared connection from a Nokia to a laptop and in later times to a PDA using WAP.

As we moved into the social media era so did our forums users. Geocaching Ireland moved there too, and we have a thriving community on the Geocaching Ireland Discussion Group on Facebook. As a result, forum activity isn't what it used to be and I have taken the decision to disable new registrations to the forums and to make the forums read only so any information there can still be accessed.

The discussion hasn't ended, it has just moved. Join us on the Facebook Geocaching Ireland Discussion Group .

My location is set to Ireland! Has been since I started! Any ideas?

In Profile Details > Location you have set Ireland?

What about Mailing Address > Country ... have you set that to Ireland too?

Also, it's not going to instantly work.
The Ireland rankings only gets updated twice a week or there abouts (see top right hand corner of web page for date of last update).
The other one, the image in your siggy, only gets updated once every two weeks I think it is.

Yes to both those questions. So I'm still none the wiser! Maybe I should email the admin of the page and ask them? :?

You need to Check the Country/Europe Radio button here...
http://www.drunners.de/cachestats/registration_eng.php

I tried contacting these people about the GER/EUROPE thing before but heard nothing back.

I did that also and did get a response, the reason was to do with google and the way they listed postcodes or summat, was advised to put uk after postcode to fix problem, it now has been resolved by google as you don't need the uk anymore.

After a six week wait the leaderboard is finally updating again. I see mental medic, whirlwind, Odies, Blue Box and legodude are continuing to race through the top 100 and will all shortly be in the top 50 =D> =D>

Information to hand suggests we'll have a new No 1 by the end of the month too :-

To answer No would be absolutely truthful but also misleading

Our return to ET is booked for next year, no Freakycat holidays left for this year

Any ideas why.

I stumbled on this website recently http://www.zinnware.com/HighAdv/Geocach ... _found.php

How does No. 1 even do that? 917 caches in one day?

Is that 917 finds in one day?

There's someone that frequents these forums that can even beat that record..

Takes a lot of determination !

This year myself and Freakycat easily managed 750 caches a day on the ET powertrail and if we had been part of a bigger team (so that we could rest at times) we could easily have been over 1000 for the day. A dutch and American team (3 and 4 members respectively) both managed over 1000 caches in a day while we were there.

The ET series is a film cannister under a stone, surrounded by 3 stones, placed 161m apart. That's it. Repeat 1500 times (and soon to be 2000 times). It's not an exercise in finding caches but an exercise in endurance.

Did meet 1 guy doing it on his own. Tough ask.

Interesting. I was wondering how people can find so many caches in total / per month / per day. Thanks for explanation. Also explains the sticker in the logbook :-)
