There is a macro in GSAK but you can only query one cache at a time, a bit too cumbersome for all the caches in Ireland

No doubt there are more elegant ways of achieving the same result but just couldn't think of it at present.

Have to agree that a two piece waterproof is more practical and flexible.
I don't agree about leather being warm, I gave up on leather years ago and think that just about any of the cordura types are far more practical.
What a few of my friends do, even though they have a waterproof armoured jacket and trousers, is if they know it's going to be wet to wear a light oversuit so that the armoured stuff doesn't get as dirty and wet.
It's well worth getting a proper bike jacket for the convenience of having an all in one solution that you can just pull on instead of having several layers.

Helmets: as soon as I could afford it, I got decent helmets, I currently have an arai tour cross but TBH I prefer the cheaper condor or chaser. They're all very expensive but the reason I like them is the comfort and fit. Try on as many as you can get your hands on and get the one that fits and is comfortable. I wouldn't worry about the safety aspect simply because it's impossible to know how it'll perform for your (hypothetical) impact. As long as it's snell or EC approved, and they all are, there's no point wondering how good it is.

Filtering is legal but the same rules of the road apply, you can't (legally) cross a solid line or overtake on the left (apart from the usual exceptions) and you must still drive with due care and attention etc. It's a good idea to get an instructor to show you how to do it safely. A few euros spent on instruction is very rarely wasted.

Good luck. You could try xrvireland.org or xrv.org.uk, both having a bit of knowledge of your bike.

Anybody out there going to the Top Gear show in Dublin later this month??

I really enjoy the show on the BBC, they got up the nose's of the Haulage drivers in the UK week after last, they slags off most things, but all tongue in cheek.
The young fella's ipod is loaded with all sorts of top gear racing challenges and hinted at
going up to see the show. But the prices are scandalous, as you'd expect in Ireland.

Not sure if it will be on the same format as the show on the BBC. Now if the price included
admission to mondelo to see them test drive a few cars and to see the Stig tear around
that would be more appealing.

So anyone going??

I know it's no consolation , but if you must fracture in my wrist and put your self out for six weeks, all least you chose the best time of the year to do it , with all the recent bad caching weather, you'll probably have noted that the number of logged caches has been down recently, I suspect everyone too depressed with the weather to get out as much, never mind the credit crunch and the price of petrol/diesel.

But then again, look on the bright side , you'll be back fit and well for the New Year Event, which is always a ball and well worth a visit.

Take care of yourself and get back on the road as soon as possible.

all the best
SargeNI

PS you've already served 1 week only 5 more to go, and you might even get off early for good behavior.
i have had 2 of these one was a jack wolfskin one with full frame. not good for around town as I was even more like a bull in a china shop than usual. these are indeed a pricey item but had a little storage area underneth and a rain cover/umberella.

The one we use now is life brand i think and is a sport model light weight and is really good if you don't need/want extra space in the carrier.
Again pricey enough but you always get a good return on these items on ebay if you keep it in good nick.

without having read all of the above I would recommend Salomon Gore tex boots. I have a couple of pairs. One pair I had for 5 years and bought a new pair recently with the welded seams, comfy and waterproof.
Oh and the other pair I took them back because they let in a bit of water and my 5 year old pair of boots became a brand new pair of boots!!

Harold is 95 and lives in a Senior Citizen Home. Every night after dinner, Harold goes to a secluded garden behind the Centre to sit and ponder his accomplishments and long life.

One evening, Mildred, age 87, wanders into the garden. They begin to chat and before they know it, several hours have passed. After a short lull in their conversation, Harold turns to
Mildred and asks, "Do you know what I miss most of all?"

She asks, "What?"

"Sex!!" he replies.

Mildred exclaims, "Why you old fart. You couldn't get it up if I held a gun to your head!"

"I know," Harold says, "but it would be nice if a woman could just hold it for a while."

"Well, I can oblige," says Mildred, who unzips his trousers, removes his manhood and proceeds to hold it. Afterward, they agree to meet secretly each night in the garden where they would sit and talk and Mildred would hold Harold's manhood.

Then one night Harold didn't show up at their usual meeting place.

Alarmed, Mildred decided to find Harold and make sure he was O.K. She walked
around the Senior Citizen Home where she found him sitting by the pool with Ethel, another female resident, who was holding Harold's manhood!

Furious, Mildred yelled, "You two-timing creep! What does Ethel have that I don't have?"

Old Harold smiled happily and replied, "the shakes!"

Bootle, there is now a waymarking.com category for Carnegie Libraries.

I have a few books on local history, mostly photographs of the area taken over the past 100 years with a paragraph of information on each. These provided good information and pictures for my "Forgotten Houses" series of caches.

Local history groups often have websites as well.

Part of the reason for the other account on another site is that GC apparently banned pathtags - including discussions on the forums there. So, necessity being the mother of invention they've taken off in other ways.

I've been trading and now have a nice collection of about 25 different tags - can't wait for my own to arrive!

Have to confess I saw this one on another forum, but's worth a repeat.

Done some caching recently in England and Scotland and this one struck a cord - although there's nothing like this one to be found in Ireland or is there

Check out the cache page, and if you want the funny log check out motodan's log
The things I always carry in my bag are:

GPSr
Camera
Headtorch
Tweezers

and my caching repair kit which contains pen/pencil, pencil sharpener, ziplock bags, spare logbook (a page can be torn out for a micro logsheet) and some black electrical tape.

If I'm out in the hills I'll also take suitable clothing, trekking poles, first aid and emergency kit etc.

So maybe old users should hold off buying CN NT 2009 Europe for E80 and buy nüMaps Lifetime for E119 instead.

"Updated 20081018 : Spoke to Garmin France yesterday and it turns out it has been delayed until early 2009. Remember you read it here first like the original news about "nüMaps Lifetime" No real impact in the US as there are no new maps available, but in Europe those who can't wait will have to pay €80 for a single map update to get CN NT 2009 Europe released on October 15th.

Posted 20081003 : After announcing the nüMaps Guarantee last month, Garmin are completing their map offering with the "Lifetime Maps" program announced at the Mondial 2008 car show in Paris today. It is due to launch on October 15th and for $119 (€119 in Europe), subscribers will be able to download quarterly updates for their GPS system as long as they own it."

To gain entry to the camping use Two Zero Eight Five on the keypad at the gate.
Entry will be permitted only after four pm.
Please do not use the intercom.

When you arrive on site drive in past the main building then follow the road beyond the "no exit" sign set yourself up at the very bottom of the camping area overlooking the beach.

Looking at the weather forecast I'd bring the winter woollies along.

Set your alarm clock as the Cito is at nine am Sharp.
There are a lot of spammers that target phpBB boards, which is why I ended up not using it for my craft group and switched to vbulletin a few years back (I've since moved on to ning for that) One of the features I liked about vbulletin was a plug in that let me ask a couple of questions the applicant had to answer correctly in order to be allowed in. It drastically cut down on the number of dodgy emails I was getting.
